Candle Holders You Can Build

I made candle holders from an old fence post. I found an old fence post and cut it straight across to make them to hold votive candles. Depending the size of the post you could use candles bigger than votive size candles.

Lacquer was was used to coat the wood. Brushing lacquer bought from a home improvement store or polyurethane can be used. I like lacquer because it is usually ready for another coat as quickly as ten minutes, compared to thirty or an hour for poly.

I made another style for holding candle sticks by boring a hole in the wood with a paddle bit. I cut a 45degree angle on the top. These were coated with lacquer also.

Both of these types of candle holders are easy to make.

You can buy cedar fence rails and posts at a home improvement store that will make perfect candle holders or platforms as needed for other items you want raised. Good luck with your Projects.
